CIB Mapping Plugin – Electorate boundaries
SPEAKER_00 (00:02 – 00:32): I want to introduce you to CIV mapping tool. This tool helps you to identify the electorate and actually other things as well, but of an address. So, it’s not enabled by default. You go into System Settings and Extensions, find the CIV mapping plugin and enable it.
SPEAKER_00 (00:36 – 01:07): While it’s doing that, we’re going to open the custom fields screen. We’re going to create some fields to store the electrodes of the address. Let’s do that. So we add a custom set field. I don’t know where we’ll put this exactly, but we’ll call it Electrics, I guess. Contacts.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13 – 01:23): And a federal one. And a state one. And you can even have a local one.
SPEAKER_00 (01:29 – 02:07): Okay. So now that that Other screen has finished installing. Let’s go to System Settings and CIV Mapping Settings. So, real-time classification is enabled, so every time you press Add an address, it’ll do this classification. First things first, we’re going to have to load in the data, so like the boundaries of for federal elections. I’m in Queensland, so I’ll do that.
SPEAKER_00 (02:11 – 02:31): You can load in as many as you want. There’s also some indigenous areas which you might… These are all data from the ABS. It’s up to you about how you use these. So, for local government. And finally, the state.
SPEAKER_00 (02:38 – 03:30): There’s actually also a suburbs and localities, not sure that’s super important to anyone, and I think there’s a postal areas one, so you can use it to check postcodes, I guess, if you want to do that. Mapping, so we’re going to map the Commonwealth area to the federal one, the state-local one to the local one. I’ll just say that sometimes it doesn’t remember the last one, so just save that and do another one. Here we go, state goes to the state one. Okay, now we’re all set up.
SPEAKER_00 (03:34 – 03:56): Let’s go create a new contact, test, and we’ll add, so there’s no electrics here of course, we’re going to add one Main Street, Sanford Valley, 4520, Main Street, and save.
SPEAKER_00 (04:05 – 04:43): Of course it never works when we’ve tested. I think that might not be a valid. Let’s see. One Valray Place. Let’s try that. That is my street. And refresh that. There it goes. So one Main Street. Wasn’t a valid address. And you can see that it’s pulled in Federal electorate, State and Local. We don’t have Division level and local governance because ABS does not publish that. Do you know what you think?
