Private Pages
SPEAKER_00 (00:00 – 00:29): Okay, I want to quickly show you how permission systems work. So first of all, we can… There’s a plugin here called the User Role Editor, which is right here. So you can activate that. Under Users, you’ll see the User Role Editor, and you can see the various types of user roles that can be created.
SPEAKER_00 (00:32 – 00:44): So a subscriber is typically is the typical default permission that you get. And I think you can see under user role editor, you can actually see what the default role is.
SPEAKER_00 (00:47 – 00:58): So a user, a subscriber has these permissions, right? They can edit their own profile. They can read stuff. So that’s a default permission.
SPEAKER_00 (01:00 – 01:47): So to that extent, I think we showed this in another one. If we wanted, for example, the knowledge base to be accessible by other, sorry, would not be accessible by other users, then we could limit that page to being accessible only by users logged in or subscribers with that read commission. So we’ve built this small CRB Commission Editor to add knowledge base that requires the read capability. So if we save that and we were to log out,
SPEAKER_00 (01:49 – 02:14): then in theory, if we were to go to the knowledge base, we would be asked to log in again. and then only then would we be able to see the knowledge base. So that’s a way of creating a private volunteer area using a knowledge base and other bits and pieces.
